Shiloh Forest Farm

With old farmers getting older, and a lack of young people who desire a life in agriculture, there is a danger that we could loose a great deal of wisdom from the generation that has gone before us. Often new technology replaces old techniques at a cost which is not immediately seen.
At Shiloh Forest Farm we are blessed to be under the mentorship of Janet Thony. Having been a rancher in the Cariboo of BC, andserving as a director for the Cattlemans Association, Janet would eventually settle on this property (then Crocker Creek Farm), before retiring to Qualicum Beach. Janet now serves as the president of the Coombs Farmers Institute, amongst many other influential positions she uses to advance Vancouver Island Agriculture. Janet still manages to make time in her busy schedule to stop by and lend words of wisdom again and again. If you ever stop by, you may find Janet here teaching us and our kids on a variety of skills.
We hope to continue to glean wisdom from Janet and the many other farmers in our area in this wonderful agriculture community!
Greetings from Stephen & Fiona Thiessen along with our five children, Joshua, Anna, Mary, Timothy, and Josiah.
As a family, we have been drawn to homesteading and sustainable living for many years. Over time, we have expanded our herd and experience, with both children and animals! ;)
From humble beginnings with a family chicken coop, to later adding the care of several milking goats, we started on a journey that has led us to where we are today. Having now settled on Shiloh Forest Farm situated on more than 60 acres of pasture and forest, we have gained the ability to expand even more, adding cattle, pigs, and turkeys, ducks and a horse to our list of resident animals.
It has always been our goal to raise happy, healthy animals that are well cared for and brought up both naturally and sustainably. We are working hard to produce some of the best quality meat and produce on Vancouver Island for our family and yours!
